Itching of the anus (anal itching) is itching of the skin in the anus area which is a fairly common disease in proctology. Itching and burning in the anus are divided into primary (independent disease) and secondary (as a symptom of another disease). The causes of this disease are quite diverse: diabetes mellitus, helminthic invasion, jaundice, etc. However, itching in the anus is most often a symptom of hemorrhoids (treatment of hemorrhoids).
Itching and burning in the anus in hemorrhoids are a manifestation of erosion of the hemorrhoid walls. In addition, if the hemorrhoidal nodes are bleeding, the mucous membrane and skin of the anus become inflamed, which lead to the appearance of itching and burning.
Anal itching (treatment), as a rule, is especially pronounced in chronic hemorrhoids, as well as with concomitant diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, itching of the anus can be caused by falling out of hemorrhoidal nodes and the ingress of mucus to the skin, which causes the development of the skin maceration of the perianal area.

When contacting the medical center “ON Clinic Kharkov”, the patient undergoes an initial examination (diagnostics of the rectum), as a result of which it becomes clear what causes burning in the anus. If the cause is the presence of an enlarged hemorrhoidal node, symptomatic treatment (ointments, baths, tablets) is performed and the node is removed (without surgery, outpatiently)! If the cause is different, then it is possible to consult with a dermatologist and prescribe a joint conservative medical treatment.
